Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Vegetables

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into even pieces
  • 3 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
  • Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince the garlic cloves finely, and slice the chicken breasts into even pieces to ensure they cook evenly.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, water or chicken broth, and cornstarch until smooth. This mixture will become the glossy, flavorful sauce that ties the dish together.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces, seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper, then cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Sauté Broccoli and Garlic: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Toss in the broccoli florets and sauté for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Combine Everything: Return the chicken to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the honey garlic sauce over everything, stirring well to coat. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the chicken and broccoli beautifully.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle optional green onions or sesame seeds on top, and serve hot with your favorite sides such as steamed jasmine rice or garlic noodles.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor and aroma.
  • Don’t overcook broccoli; keep it bright green and crisp to preserve texture and nutrients.
  • Ensure chicken pieces are evenly sized for uniform cooking.
  • Mix the sauce ingredients ahead to prevent lumps and speed up cooking.
  • Pour the sauce slowly over the pan and stir gently to avoid splatters.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
