Hot Chili Chicken Burgers

Hot Chili Chicken Burgers are juicy, flavorful patties infused with bold spices and fresh chilies, served on toasted buns and layered with fresh toppings and spicy mayo. Perfectly balanced with heat, texture, and aroma, they are ideal for quick dinners, parties, or anyone craving a spicy twist on a classic chicken burger.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 12 fresh chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Buns and Toppings

  • 4 burger buns
  • Butter or oil for toasting buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Spicy mayo or chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture: Combine ground chicken with chili powder, finely chopped fresh chilies, minced garlic, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly but gently to evenly distribute flavors without overworking the meat.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four even portions. Shape each into a patty roughly the size of your burger buns. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat a grill, skillet, or griddle over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C). Avoid pressing down on patties to keep them juicy.
  4. Toast the Buns: Slice burger buns and toast lightly on the grill or in a pan with butter or oil until golden brown and warm.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Spread spicy mayo or chili sauce on the bottom bun, place the cooked chicken patty on top, then layer with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and any other desired toppings. Finish with the top bun.

Notes

  • Keep it juicy: Avoid overmixing the chicken mixture to maintain tenderness.
  • Adjust chili heat: Modify fresh chili quantity according to preferred spice level.
  • Rest patties: Let cooked patties rest a few minutes to seal in juices.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh garlic, onion, and chilies enhance flavor depth.
  • Toast buns: Always toast buns to prevent sogginess and add crunch.
