Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh oregano, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon optional spices (cumin or paprika)

Toppings & Serving

  • 4 to 6 whole wheat buns or large lettuce leaves (for low-carb option)
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • Olive oil for cooking and drizzling
  • Optional Mediterranean toppings: sliced cucumbers, tomato slices, extra fresh herbs (parsley, mint, dill)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Finely chop the parsley, oregano, and red onion. Zest and juice the lemon. Mince the garlic to release its aroma.
  2. Mix the Patty Ingredients: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, chopped herbs, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, red onion, salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Mix with hands or a spoon just until combined to keep the patties tender.
  3. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 to 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, gently flattening them to ensure even cooking.
  4. Cook the Burgers: Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the outside is golden brown.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Place each cooked patty on a whole wheat bun or lettuce wrap. Top with crumbled feta cheese, a drizzle of olive oil, and your favorite Mediterranean toppings such as sliced cucumbers or tomatoes. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the turkey mixture to avoid dense burgers.
  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor impact.
  • Check internal temperature with a thermometer to prevent drying out.
  • Let patties rest for 5 minutes after cooking for juicier results.
  • Lightly toast buns to add texture and prevent sogginess.
  • Add a spoonful of Greek yogurt on top for extra creaminess and moisture.
