Ingredients

Scale

Ganache Base

  • 8 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp orange zest (freshly grated)
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Coating (Optional)

  • Additional white chocolate for dipping (optional)
  • Extra orange zest or edible glitter for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ganache: Chop the white chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl. Warm the heavy cream and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until just simmering. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for two minutes, then gently stir until the mixture is smooth and silky.
  2. Add Orange Flavor: Stir in freshly grated orange zest, orange extract, and powdered sugar into the ganache. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of the zest for vibrant citrus flavor in every bite.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours or until the ganache is firm enough to scoop and shape.
  4. Shape the Truffles: Using a small cookie scoop or teaspoon, portion out the chilled ganache. Quickly roll portions into smooth balls between your palms. Place the shaped truffles on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for another 30 minutes to set.
  5. Coat and Finish: Melt additional white chocolate if desired for coating. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate to create a glossy shell. Place dipped truffles on parchment paper to set. Optionally, garnish with extra orange zest or edible glitter for a festive touch.

Notes

  • Use high-quality white chocolate for the best texture and flavor.
  • Zest the orange just before using to preserve fresh citrus aroma.
  • Heat cream and butter until just simmering to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • Properly chill ganache before shaping to prevent stickiness.
  • Use chilled or gloved hands when rolling to avoid melting the ganache.
  • If stacking truffles for storage, separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
