Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend for gluten-free option)
  • 12 Reese’s peanut butter cups

Peanut Butter Frosting Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (190g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Batter: Melt the butter and mix it with the cocoa powder and granulated sugar until smooth and rich. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Gradually fold in the flour carefully to create a thick, fudgy batter.
  2. Layer the Brownies: Pour half of the batter evenly into a greased baking pan. Arrange the Reese’s peanut butter cups spaced evenly over the batter, pressing them gently so they are partially submerged but still distinct.
  3. Add Remaining Batter and Bake: Cover the peanut butter cups with the remaining brownie batter, ensuring they are fully enclosed. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out with moist crumbs.
  4. Make the Peanut Butter Frosting: While brownies cool completely, beat together creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and heavy cream (or milk) until light, fluffy, and spreadable. Adjust the cream quantity gradually to get the perfect consistency.
  5. Frost and Chill: Spread the peanut butter frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Chill for at least one hour before slicing to set the frosting and ensure clean cuts.

Notes

  • The brownie batter should be thick enough to hold the Reese’s cups without them sinking.
  • Use room temperature eggs and butter for smooth mixing and even texture.
  • Do not overbake – brownies should be just set with moist crumbs to keep the fudgy texture.
  • Chill frosted brownies before cutting to avoid crumbling and messy slices.
  • Add heavy cream gradually to the frosting to avoid thinning it too much.
